They look like a tiny watermelon you’d find in a children’s book but are actually small, edible, cucumbers. They grow as a tall vine needing trellising (here shown over 6” high!) and are prolific and easy to grow in a sunny spot.
We use them in flower arrangements and aromatic bouquets. They add a wonderful little surprise to flowers and foliage not usually found in bouquets. We do not shy away from weird and kooky here at 5-leaf Clover and how can you resist growing something called Mouse Melons!
And we thought they’d be perfect for a garnish for the Cucumber Gimlet.
